Description

Transforming this iconic woodblock print into cross stitch will allow you to experience the artwork in a new way, adding lustre and texture with Mouliné Spécial threads. The print was originally published sometime between 1829 and 1933 in the late Edo period. It is the first print in Hokusai's series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji. The Great Wave has gone on to receive acclaim and popularity across Western world.

Katsushika Hokusai was a Japanese artist, ukiyo-e painter and printmaker. He is best known for his woodblock print series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji (c.1831) which includes the internationally recognised The Great Wave off Kanagawa, created during the 1820s.

The British Museum opened its doors in 1759 and has become one of the world's best-known and most-visited museums. The museum's wide-ranging collections include about eight million objects covering two million years of human history. Due to its objects being widely collected during the era of the British Empire, its permanent collection is among the largest and most comprehensive in existence.
